REALONETARA hopes to make Liuli art something that is not only admired, but also worn, becoming part of how women express their personal style. With this in mind, we kept searching for Chinese artisans who could bring traditional liuli craftsmanship together with contemporary fashion. When we met Liu Yuan, we found a kindred creative spirit.
A liuli artisan from Boshan, Zibo, China, Liu Yuan studied under Cheng Jing, an artisan with more than thirty years of experience in liuli making. Combining traditional lampworking techniques with modern aesthetics, she explores contemporary expressions of liuli art through graceful, dynamic forms and rich colors.
Her work Butterfly and Spirit Snake Flower Crown (《蝴蝶灵蛇花冠》) was exhibited in 2025 at the National Museum of China’s “Liuguang Licai — Zibo Liuli Art Exhibition.” Eternity (《永恒》), which she co-created with artist Wang Tongqiang, captures the fleeting moment of an epiphyllum flower in full bloom in translucent Liuli. It was also selected for the 2026 “Liuguang Licai — Zibo Liuli Art Exhibition” at the POLY MGM MUSEUM in Macau. Her other creations include 《烟火年年》 and 《邂逅鸢尾》.
United by a shared pursuit of nature and wearable art, REALONETARA and Liu Yuan spent two months co-designing and repeatedly refining the five collections in our store: the Orchid Flower Necklace Collection, Iris Flower Necklace Collection, Rose Flower Necklace Collection, Sunflower Flower Necklace Collection, and Koi Flower Necklace Collection. Our approach to nature-inspired jewelry begins with capturing the forms and lively spirit found in nature. For the floral collections, this meant giving each liuli flower a natural, lively presence rather than simply making a flower-shaped ornament.
Combining organza with liuli was an exploration of materials and how the pieces could be worn. The lightweight fabric supports each hand-shaped liuli flower, bringing the artistic expressiveness of liuli into women’s fashion.
Our choice of black organza came from observing how liuli colors appear: the darker the background, the more vivid and richly saturated the colors look. Against black, the flowers reveal striking colors and luster in the light, bringing out the full radiance of liuli.
These five collections were co-created and co-designed by REALONETARA and Liu Yuan, with every liuli piece handcrafted by Liu Yuan herself. Unlike the uniformity of mass-produced jewelry, the subtle variations in form and color that emerge through handcrafting give each piece a character uniquely its own.
We hope these pieces become more than beautiful jewelry. We hope they become wearable art, allowing each wearer to bring fashion and artistic expression into everyday life in her own way.
